Jordan Creek Town Center

Jordan Creek Town Center in West Des Moines, Iowa opened as the state’s largest shopping center. Through an owner-led design team, the spotlight shifted from a traditional mid-western mall to a “Town Center” setting on 200 acres. In the main two-level retail center, or “Shopping District,” most shops feature dual frontage into the mall and exterior entrances to the “streetscape” that creates the attractive pedestrian style. It includes more than 100 retail, dining and entertainment outlets. The central shopping area with a 3.5-acre feature lake includes promenades, play areas, an amphitheatre, lakefront dining and outdoor cafes. The lake itself includes fountains, waterfalls, a bike trail and multiple walkways. All these features are combined with the largest movie theater in Iowa, state of the art fire detection and suppression, and a variety of exterior facades and finishes.
